SESSION DESCRIPTION: Utilities today are being asked to sort through, become knowledgeable about and select an increasingly complicated set of energy generation options. Modern coal-fired power plants, high-tech renewable energy options, advanced nuclear generation, and innovative natural gas plants all compete for a piece of the utility's generation mix. The problem is further complicated by aging power plants, emissions regulations, renewable portfolio standards, low natural gas prices, and limited nuclear power options. For the utility, there are no clear or easy answers.
This panel of experts will present their views on what a balanced portfolio should look like and discuss the considerations that come with each generation type.
